U14 Girls Munster Plate Final: Killarney Celtic 4 Tulla United 0
Tulla United proved the opposition in the Munster Plate Final, superbly hosted by Charleville, and Celtic were crowned champions after a tough game against the Clare side. Anna Clifford teed up Kate Murphy for a neat tap-in after two minutes, Ciara Randles had a great long distance shot disallowed because another player was in an offside position on 23 minutes. Undeterred, she hit an equally brilliant strike straight to the net two minutes later and this one counted. Celtic led by 2-0 at the break. Kate Murphy's precision pass opened it up for Anna Clifford early in the second half and she produced a beautiful finish and Anna produced a great run and brilliant strike for her fourth - it got a slight deflection, but that rocket was always goalbound. Anna Clifford was named Player of the Tournament, while star midfielder Maude Kelly and Gillian Courtney were magnificenbt in the final, but this day belonged to the whole team - every sub got a run and played a big role today as well - and to the wonderful mangement and supporters. Well done to all, including hosts Charleville and our gallant Tulla opposition, they were also a great credit to their clubs.
This was a scintillating performance - everything had to be hard won against a very talented and very sporting Park team. Cian Doe won a corner that was beautifully curled into the box by Kieran Dennehy for Daniel Okwute to power home a great header. A lovely through ball by Kieran gave Daniel a second chance, and his phenomenal scoring record this season tells you everything about his ability to convert chances. Another great pass, this time by Ronan Coffey, saw Daniel make it three from three and claim his hat-trick. Brilliant stuff by all the Celtic players, management, and supporters.
U14 League Champions!
Killarney Celtic 5 Listowel Celtic 0
What a wayt to wrap up a league title! Listowel gave us a great battle, as they always do, but the lads were not to be denied with the finishing line in sight and produced a blistering display, one that the club is hugely proud of and augurs well for a bright future. Darragh Lyne scored two, with Mark Cooper, Ryan Kelliher, and captain fantastic Patrick Darcy also on target. Patrick led from the front all through but theman of the match award has to be shared among a hugely committed, hugely disciplined, and hugely talented squad.
